Game Predictions – 12/5/2006
There are 8 games on the schedule and a few of them I think are worthy of keeping a close eye on. I think the Ottawa-New York Islanders game is an interesting one as I think it might tell a lot about how both teams will do the rest of the season. Ottawa has been winning a lot of games lately and are 5-1 in their last 6 but those win have mostly come against teams playing poorly (Philadelphia, Florida twice, Tampa) but the Islanders are a hot team having beaten a top team from the western conference (Dallas) and the best team in the NHL (Buffalo) in their last 2 games. Good teams figure out how to beat the hot teams. The New York Islanders are just looking to continue to establish some credibility and show that their record and success isn’t a fluke and beating a top Canadian team will do wonders for that. Should be a good game. The other game I think is worth takeing a look at is Carolina-Calgary because I think it is a match up of two quality teams still looking to find their way. Both teams have struggled with inconsistency but for different reasons. Carolina has struggled to get quality goaltending and Calgary has struggled to get consistent goal scoring. I wonder who is going to show up tonight.
