I am going to be busy with other stuff the next few days so updates of the salary cap commitments will be a bit slow or non-existant. Things should be back to normal Monday when I hope to get everything back up to date. Thanks for your patience.

Rumour hot off the press out of Toronto today. Detroit will supposedly send a 3rd round pick to Toronto in exchange for Nik Antropov! That will clear up some cap room for the Leafs who will than sign Anson Carter to a 1 year deal worth $2.2 million this season. This is just a rumour mind you. Not a bad idea tho. Its about time the Leafs get rid of usless Antropov.

I am not as down on Antropov as many (most) Leaf fans are. For $1 million he is a pretty good bargain. He will score you ~15 goals, ~35 points, won’t hurt you defensively and even killed penalties last year. The only year he has been a – player was 2001-02 when he was a -1 in just 11 games. That’s a pretty good, cost efficient player to have on your 3rd line and if he could ever stay healthy for a full season I think 20 goals, 45 points is certainly possible for Antropov. You could put him with Peca and Ponikarovsky and have a very good checking line which will score a bit too. Carter would definitely add more offense to the Leafs but is 10-15 extra goals worth spending an extra $1-1.5 million in salary cap space? I’m not sure about that.

Lately the TO media has been shooting their mouths off about a lot of moves that do not come true. It is the dog days of summer and they need to fill their column inches and trying not to be made redundant during the summer time.
