Just wanted to let everyone know that I am working on creating tables of every teams salary cap commitments. I currently have the northeast division completed and hope to be adding more teams in the not to distant future. You can view these tables by clicking on the team links in the left side menu. I hope to be able to keep these updated over the summer as trades happen and free agents get signed but this will be done on an as time permits basis.

Update: Northeast and Northwest teams have been updated to include free agent signings through July 2nd. I’ll hopefully be adding another division or two later today.

I’m pretty sure your Sens #s are wrong.

Bryan Smolinski’s salary cap committment is $1.76 because his contract was averaged out. His salary for this season will be $1.29 million, but for the two seasons under the new CBA, it was averaged out.

Same with Volchenkov. He signed a two-year deal last summer for $2.5 million ($1.2 and $1.3 mil per season) so it’s $1.25 against the cap.

if you go to http://www.thefourthperiod.com, it is a great site and has up to the minute team salary cap commitents, and everything else you need. Doing the table like you want David would just be a waste of our time, really. Its a great site. Check it out.

I have visited The Fourth Period and it is a good site with lots of valuable information. The salaries that you see listed are just the beginning of what I hope (time permitting) to be able to do, not only with salaries but with other very relevant pieces of information. Hopefully I will get a lot of it ready in time for the beginning of next season.

Chris: I am not sure if you are completely correct about Smolinski. It now seems that it might be somewhere between my number and your number. The NHLPA website has Smolinski’s salary for next season at $1.52 million. Last year his salary was listed as $2.242 million. The average of those numbers is $1.881 million.

From what I have read Volchenkov’s salary last year was $1.1 million and this year it is $1.5 million for an average of $1.3 million.
