  1.

hahah at your power rankings. Flyers in 16th. great rankings and NJ at 22

  2.

The Flyers are just an average team, especially with Forsberg out of the lineup which he seems to be half the time, and their goaltending is sub-par. The Flyers have 97 points right now, 57 (or 59%) of those have come against teams ranked 21-30. They have a .395 record against the top 10 teams for 20 points and a .474 record against the middle 10 teams for 20 points. I don’t think they deserve to be ranked much higher than a middle of the pack team.

New Jersey should be ranked a bit higher but they are getting penalized for being a pretty weak team earlier in the season.

People also criticize my rankings for having the Leafs so high but the Leafs have a .529 record against the middle 10 teams and thus probably deserve to be in the top half of the middle 10 teams.

My rankings aren’t perfect and I’ll probably do some tweaking to the algorithm before next weeks rankings but I do think they are far superior to the TSN Power Rankings and most other ranking systems out there. TSN had the Flyers 4th last week which is just stupid and 7th this week which is still high IMO. They had the Leafs ranked 25th last week which is also insanely stupid but ranked 17th this week which is closer to reasonable. And do the Nashville Predators really deserve to fall from 7th to 20th just because Vokoun is now out for the season?
