Six games on schedule tonight although none can really be said to be high quality matchups. The most interesting might be Sidney Crosby’s visit into Montreal. I think several of the games except have the potential for an upset. Montreal has struggled lately and could potentially fall to the Penguins. The Rangers and Tampa are both up and down teams and that game could go either way. New Jersey is also a very inconsistant team and Florida has played a bit better recently (5-1-1 in last 7) so Florida has a good opportunity to win. In the pick-em game I will take Nashville and their better goaltending to defeat Colorado.

Home Team Road Team Predicted Winner Confidence
NY Rangers Tampa Bay NY Rangers Some
Montreal Pittsburgh Montreal Strong
New Jersey Florida New Jersey Some
Detroit Minnesota Detroit Good
Colorado Nashville Pick N/A
Edmonton Chicago Edmonton Strong

We don’t really have a game worth getting off of the couch to watch. This is the night where a rivalry game stands out. New Jersey has played inconsistently lately, while Florida’s offense is finally helping out Luongo. I think Florida will win this game. Another team that has declined this year is Colorado. They have poor goaltending and have had it all year long. This is nothing like the Colorado Avalanche team that won the Stanley Cup in ’96 and ’99. Pittsburgh @ Montreal is interesting because Sidney Crosby is playing his first game in the city he grew up in and the first time playing in Montreal, his childhood team.

    Chicago @ Edmonton (Edmonton-Strong)
    Pittsburgh @ Montreal (Pittsburgh-Good)
    Florida @ New Jersey (Florida-Good)
    Minnesota @ Detroit (Detroit-Good)
    Nashville @ Colorado (Nashville-Good)
Tampa Bay @ NY Rangers (Tampa Bay-Some)

    Strong: 20-5-3, 76.8%
    Good: 25-19-5, 56.1%
    Some: 19-26-7, 43.3%
    Overall: 64-50-15, 55.4%

If anybody saw last night’s Los Angeles/Dallas game, you would probably wonder why the Kings haven;t been talked about as much. Personally, I think they are the league’s most underrated team. The injury bug has been biting them lately, but the Kings are still coming on strong.

The Kings are 8-1-1 in their last 10 games, are now 4 points ahead of Dallas in the Pacific Division, and are only 1 point behind Detroit for the most points in the Western Conference. Before the season started, many were questioning their goaltending, whether or not Matheiu Garon and rookie Jason LaBarbera would be enough to carry the team. Well, Garon has won 9 of his last 10 starts. This club is good with now 10 guys out (Bure, Roenick, Cowan, Miller, Belanger, Brown, Avery, Flinn, Parros, Dempsey), so when they return, imagine how good the team will be.

Also, the Kings have one of the most underrated players in the league. Defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky had 2 goals and an assist in last night’s 3-2 overtime win over Dallas. With 3 points, he is now 2nd on the points list for defensemen (behind TOR D. Bryan McCabe [47]). He has 41.
